"One of the Best Loved Holiday Homes in the Lot Valley"
A wonderful family home, sleeping up to 11, set in a tranquil rural position on the edge of Tour de Faure in The Lot Valley, backing onto a huge ancient oak forest. Highlights include jacuzzi spa, heated pool (available April to October), Wi-fi, boules pitch, BBQ/rotisserie. Quiet and peaceful location but plenty to do for the more active. Several great local restaurants close by.
This architect designed house, which was built for a wealthy family from Bordeaux as a holiday home, is set in about 6 acres of wooded gardens, meadow and forest hillside. The house was built in 1982 and has been extensively modernised and updated by the present owners, turning it from just a summer holiday home into a house which is welcoming all year round.
The property has been added to in terms of the grounds and now incorporates several acres of oak forest. Unlike many French houses, which can be rather dark inside, this property gives the feeling of being light and airy whilst also having that "cosy" feeling when the log fire is lit in the open fireplace on chilly evenings in late autumn, early spring or winter.
Having generally a south facing aspect, the property enjoys day long sunshine from early morning until late evening - a veritable sun worshipper's paradise! Adjacent to Tour de Faure, the medieval village of Saint Cirq Lapopie is perched some 100 metres above the River Lot. This village, designated as one of the most beautiful villages in France and often described as the “jewel of the Lot”, is a MUST for anyone staying at Son du Chene, and for the fit and active, it is just a bike ride or reasonable walk away.
Tour de Faure is about 35 kms east of the regional capital Cahors and has good access via the A20 autoroute. It can also be reached quite easily from 3 airports offering budget flights from the UK.
